Remington meeting and more!

Hello folks!

First off I just want to say that i hope your thanksgiving was as great as mine was! I am still full of Turkey! But enough of that, i have so much to tell you. to begin with i had a meeting yesterday with our Remington guys and man do we have some stuff coming for you. The first thing to tell you about is that Remington is starting a Collectors Club. `Club members will be able to purchase a club members knife every year, as they will have an annual Club members knife. Also they will feature a new members knife.

The only thing that they will not have will be a lifetime membership so you will have to renew your membership every year but its only $18.00 dollars to renew your membership. So that is what's new from the Remington side of the business.

For the Colt side i received some samples from china on Monday that look excellent!

As for Rough Rider we have been working with Brian Yellowhorse and using some of his designs we are coming out with a 2 series of Brian Yellowhorse Design knives! I can only tell you about one series of the knives because the other is TOP SECRET!!! But the one series I can tell you about is in black pearl, white pearl and abalone handles with some really cool designs and bolster work!

I did receive 2 new samples for Blackjack Knives and let me tell you there are no gimmick's there and the are so blackjack sharp that, yes me of all people, who should know better i did cut myself with it. It was only on the finger but man I'll tell you it was a gusher, of course the ladies in the catalog department called me a big baby but hey its the sacrifices i make to being you great knives right?

Well that's all for now. I hope that you and your family have a wonderful and safe Christmas!

Happy holidays,
Tyler Pipes

What I do

First off let me fill you in on a little background info about me. My name is Tyler Pipes. I am the second son of Kevin Pipes the owner of Smoky Mountain Knife Works. I just graduated for the University of Tennessee with a double major in international business and marketing. I have grown up in the knife business and i have worked in just about every department here at SMKW so that i can better understand our company.

My current position is The Head of International Development. I handle all projects that have to do with any of our in house brands or any knife company internationally. As of right now, I am working on some really exciting projects with Colt, Rough Rider, and Blackjack.

On the Colt side of things we have some really nice new pocketknives that we have put a more classic look, (I would love to tell you the details but I don’t want then competition stealing my ideas so stay tuned in). We are also expecting a shipment of some really nice fixed blades knives that should be in at the end of December so keep a look out in the catalog for them.

As for Blackjack we have some really nice fixed blades we just placed an order for but sadly they wont be in for at least 6 to 8 months, but rest assured that they will be made Blackjack Sharp, With No Gimmicks Just Performance!

I would love to write more but i got in a box of samples in today so I have to look at those and make sure that they are made with the same quality and performance of all the knives that we make and sell.

Happy Holidays to you and your family.
Best wishes,
Tyler Pipes

Welcome to my blog

Well, you're here, and that's good. I hope you come back often. My name is Tyler Pipes, and I'm going to try to use these pages to tell you a little about me - a little about what I do - and a little about...well... all kinds of things. So, subscribe if you want. That's how you'll keep up with me.

Here's a quick video of where I work, Smoky Mountain Knife Works (this is only a tiny, tiny fraction of our massive showroom).

Directions to Smoky Mountain Knife Works

SMKW is conveniently located on the major gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, in the heart of the Southeast's premiere tourist and shopping desitination (approximately 30 miles east of Knoxville, TN). When travelling east/west on I-40 or North/South on I-75 of I-81, take Interstate Exit #407 from I-40. As you head toward Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, SMKW is located on Highway 66 just four miles from the Interstate (look for the big blue roof).
